This band is known in the U.S. as the Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) frequency band. Not only is this band important in the U.S., but there is great potential for the continued allocation of 1700/2100 MHz spectrum throughout the Americas, with several auctions scheduled in 2008 in other countries in the region.
